This significant project in North Lakes provides a more sustainable transport solution for North Brisbane communities.

Last month, Keolis Downer, in partnership with the Queensland Government, delivered 16 electric buses to the Hornibrook (Keolis Downer) North Lakes Bus Depot, located north of Brisbane.

The occasion marked an important milestone in the delivery of Queensland's first all-electric depot, in line with the State Government's commitment to a more sustainable public transport network. It also signified Australia's first 100% conversion of a depot from diesel to fully electric.

As a key delivery partner, Downer provided critical support through the design, supply and construction of charging infrastructure including:

  • New high-voltage (HV) grid connection
  • Five Siemens UC150 Chargers with 16 x charging dispensers
  • Support infrastructure of new HV Kiosk, Main Switchboard and full load backup biodiesel generator.

This ground-breaking project is part of the Zero Emission Bus (ZEB) program - a State Government initiative to reduce their carbon footprint - and an exciting achievement for Downer, who will continue to support ZEB across multiple depots.

North Lakes completed charging infrastructure (below).
