City of Troy Mayor and Administration to Go Door-to-Door for Lead Pipe Testing Canvassing

Part of the Troy Lead Pipe Replacement Initiative, city officials will be joining RPI students and local groups to educate residents on lead pipe testing

Troy, NY (April 16) - Mayor Carmella Mantello, in partnership with students from RPI, city officials and community organizations, will be going door-to-door this Saturday, April 20 to educate residents on lead pipe testing in the community. Additionally, city staff will be available for some on-the-spot testing to identify the makeup of service lines.

"This event is part of our intense plan to identify all lead service lines in the community," said Mayor Mantello. "No parent should be afraid of what is coming out of their tap. This is another step we are taking to educate the community on the importance of driving up our inventory which is at approximately fifty percent."

The canvassing event will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m. Canvassing volunteers will meet at Knickerbacker Park, in the main parking lot, where they will receive instructions and supplies. After groups are done with their routes, the city will be providing pizza and time to debrief.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Hayley Hill ([email protected]).
