City Supports Buccaneer Days with Five Year Special Events Agreement

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - At today's regularly scheduled City Council meeting, Mayor Paulette M. Guajardo and the City Council approved an agreement with the Buccaneer Commission, Inc. for the 2022-2026 Buc Days Festival and related activities to allow the use of City property along Shoreline Drive from The Water's Edge to American Bank Center. Since 1938, the Buccaneer Commission, Inc, a nonprofit organization, has hosted the annual Buc Days Festival in Corpus Christi in support of bringing entertaining, educational, and cultural events to the Coastal Bend.

The special events agreement will allow the use of City property and provide City services for the Buc Days Festival to include: Night Parade, Parade Pachanga, Professional Bull Riding, Rodeo Corpus Christi, BBQ on the Bay, and the Wings over South Texas.

The agreement also includes fees not to exceed $50,550 in 2022 and to increase annually in the amounts stated in the agreement. Buc Days requires participation from multiple City Departments.

The Buc Days Festival will be held during the following dates from 2022 through 2026:

  • May 5, 2022, through May 15, 2022
  • May 4, 2023, through May 14, 2023
  • May 2, 2024, through May 12, 2024
  • May 1, 2025, through May 11, 2025
  • April 30, 2026, through May 10, 2026
