National Assembly President Vezhdi Rashidov proposes a meeting of the presidents of the parliaments of Bulgaria, Romania, and Croatia with their counterparts from the Netherlands and Austria. The purpose of the meeting is to inform them about all the efforts made and the eligibility of Bulgaria, Romania, and Croatia for Schengen membership. Vezhdi Rashidov made the proposal at a bilateral meeting with the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Croatia Gordan Jandroković in Strasbourg.

During the talks with his Croatian counterpart, Vezhdi Rashidov stressed that Bulgaria has long fulfilled all the conditions for Schengen membership and the European Commission and the European Parliament have repeatedly stated this. "Bulgaria is an honest and loyal member of the EU. It is not right to put additional political requirements in front of our country, which had not been put before other countries before", the National Assembly President was adamant.

In conclusion, Vezhdi Rashidov once again expressed reservations against a possible division of Bulgaria, Romania, and Croatia at the upcoming Justice and Home Affairs Council in early December.
