Final Construction Activities Continue Next Week on U.S. 13 South Ramp Over U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) in Hunting Park

Philadelphia, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction activities will continue next week under the substantially completed project to replace the overhead ramp and structure from southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) to southbound U.S. 13 (Hunting Park Avenue) in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

• Monday, April 15, through Friday, April 19, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, periodic single lane closures will be in place as needed on northbound and southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) between Wyoming Avenue and 16^th Street.
• Monday, April 15, through Friday, April 19, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, periodic single lane closures will be in place as needed on the southbound U.S. 13/Hunting Park Avenue ramp over U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard).

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The lane closures are part of the final construction activities to complete this $7.79 million bridge improvement project.

The southbound U.S. 13/Hunting Park Avenue ramp over U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) was reopened to traffic following its replacement on February 15, 2024.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor removed the existing single-span, steel plate girder bridge carrying the southbound U.S. 13/Hunting Park Avenue ramp over U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) and replaced the structure with a single-span, prestressed, precast concrete bridge that will provide additional vertical clearance.

Improvements also included constructing retaining wall extensions on the approaches of the new bridge; performing full depth paving; and installing and constructing new sidewalk, ADA curb ramps, new traffic signal, highway lighting, guiderail and pavement markings.

South State, Inc. of Bridgeton, N.J., is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
