NYC Sanitation Will be Gobbling Up All the "Leftovers" Following the Thanksgiving Parade!

Watching the annual Thanksgiving parade is a tradition for many! After Santa's debut along the parade route and as families begin to gather to enjoy their meal, some 160 of New York's Strongest will spring into action, cleaning up all the "leftovers" from the annual Thanksgiving Day parade.

While parade spectators start heading home, our employees are just starting their work. This year, the New York City Department of Sanitation clean team will consist of:

  • 138 Sanitation Workers
  • 22 Officers

The crews will use:

  • 29 mechanical brooms,
  • 31 hand brooms,
  • 21 backpack blowers, and
  • 20 collection trucks to get the job done.

Following the parade in 2021, Sanitation crews picked up more than 27 tons of debris.
