Man Indicted for I-95 Shooting

PRESS RELEASE

On April 9th, 2024, the New York State Police in collaboration with the Westchester County District Attorney's Office, the Westchester County Police Department Warrant Fugitive Unit, and the Stamford Police Department, arrested Stephen A. Escoffery of Waterbury, CT, for Attempted Murder in the 2nd degree, Attempted Assault in the 1st degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 1st degree and Criminal Mischief in the 2nd degree.

In December of 2022, Troopers responded to a report of a shooting on Interstate 95 in the town of Harrison. Investigation revealed Escoffery, while operating a 2020 BMW X5 northbound on Interstate 95, allegedly discharged a firearm at another motorist during a road rage incident.

With the assistance of Stamford Police Department in January of 2023, Escoffery was arrested in Connecticut and found in possession of a firearm and in violation of probation restrictions from a prior conviction in Connecticut.

At the conclusion of criminal proceedings in Connecticut an indictment obtained by the Westchester District Attorney's Office was unsealed and Escoffery was transferred from Connecticut to the Westchester County Jail following arraignment in Westchester County Court.
