Congresswoman Wilson Applauds the Biden-Harris Administration’s Announcement of National Strategy to Tackle Uptick in Antisemitism

Yesterday, the Biden-Harris Administration announced the first-ever national strategy to combat antisemitism. The plan focuses on increasing awareness and understanding of antisemitism as well as broaden appreciation of Jewish American heritage; improve safety and security for Jewish communities; reverse the normalization of antisemitism and counter antisemitic discrimination; and build cross-community solidarity and collective action to counter hate. Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (FL-24) issued the following statement in response to this comprehensive strategy:

"The rise in antisemitism across our nation should disturb everyone.

"In South Florida, we've witnessed bomb threats on Jewish centers, harassment of Jewish community members, drawings of swastikas in public spaces, an increase in antisemitic hate speech, and much more.

"These hateful acts have no place in our community, but unfortunately, these incidents are not isolated; they are occurring across our nation.

"We must reject antisemitism in all its forms and send a unifying message denouncing antisemitic actions.

"As the representative of a vibrant Jewish community, I commend the White House's bold action and strong commitment to fighting antisemitism."

The U.S. National Strategy to Counter Terrorism's approach encompasses over 100 new initiatives and 100 calls to action, all with the objective of addressing rise of antisemitism across the nation. These initiatives specifically target antisemitism in various settings, ranging from college campuses to online platforms. Moreover, this all-encompassing strategy actively engages diverse stakeholders in the fight against antisemitism.
