DLA Distribution and DLA Installation Management Susquehanna recognized at DLA's annual awards ceremony

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. -

Defense Logistics Agency Distribution and DLA Installation Management Susquehanna teams and individuals were honored at the agency's 55th Annual Employee Recognition Awards at the McNamara Headquarters Complex on Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Jan. 26.

Juan Morales Martinez was named one of DLA's top ten outstanding personnel of the year. Morales Martinez, a material handler with DLA Distribution Europe, excelled in the performance of his duties, using his extensive knowledge to take a lead role in over ocean container loading. His knowledge, motivation and unwavering determination directly contributed to the Theater Consolidation and Shipping Point's ability to deliver outstanding customer support and mission success to the warfighter and our nation.

Retail Program Manager Deion Black of DLA Distribution Corpus Christi, Texas, is the recipient of the Achievement in Equal Employment Opportunity by an Employee award. In additional to his routine duties, Black is a champion of the EEO multicultural, diversity and culture initiatives.

David Green, DLA Distribution San Joaquin, California, administrative assistant, won the DLA Safety Champion of the Year Award. Green was an exemplary safety champion throughout the year and made it his personal mission to actively promote a safety-first approach in all his endeavors. He was at the forefront of building and maintaining a culture of safety.

DLA Distribution Norfolk, Virginia's Safety Team won the DLA Employee Safety/Voluntary Protection Program Team award. The team administered 43 interrelated safety, environmental protection and occupational health programs at all DLA major subordinate command activities and sites in the Norfolk, Virginia, region.

DLA Installation Management Susquehanna garnered seven of the 12 Installation Support Excellence Awards, with the Riverview Golf Course team winning the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Facility/Program Excellence Award. DLA Police Officer Matthew Bednego won the DLA Police Officer of the Year award, Firefighter/EMT/HazMat Technician, Paul Esposito, won the DLA Firefighter of the Year award and Fire Captain John Fogg III is DLA's Fire Service Instructor of the Year.
