BCPP interrupts series of declines, driven by CEZ, banks

Prague, June 2 (CTK) - The Prague Stock Exchange (BCPP) strengthened today after five consecutive declines, the headline PX index rising by 1.72 percent to 1,315.58 points, driven mainly by shares of energy group CEZ and banks, according to the stock exchange's website.

Most of the BCPP's ten blue chips firmed, including CEZ and banks, whose shares were traded in the largest volumes. CEZ also recorded the highest sales volume and the most significant growth, namely 3.80 percent to Kc1,038.

Komercni banka added 2.58 percent to Kc676, Austria's Erste Group Bank gained 1.11 percent to Kc734.70 and Moneta Money Bank rose by 0.63 percent to Kc79.50.

The most significant decline was posted by pharmacy chain Pilulka Lekarny, which wrote off 4.26 percent to Kc450.

Soft drinks maker Kofola was also among today's losers, erasing 0.81 percent to Kc245.
