Vittoria Bocchi, Melissa Yao, Julia Brunner, and Tzippora Chwat-Edelstein Awarded 2024 Kravis WiSE Fellowships

Vittoria Bocchi, PhD, postdoctoral fellow, Julia Brunner, PhD, postdoctoral fellow, Melissa Yao, MS, graduate student, and Tzippora Chwat-Edelstein, BS, graduate student, were recipients of the 2024 Marie-Josée Kravis Women in Science Endeavor (WiSE) fellowship. Each year Kravis (WiSE) initiative awards several fellowships to female graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to support their research at MSK. The awards are announced in March, to coincide with Women's History Month, as evidence that MSK is committed to supporting promising female scientists.

Carol Brown Received 2024 Clara D. Bloomfield MD Legacy Award

Carol L. Brown, MD, FACOG, FACS, gynecologic surgeon and senior vice president and Chief Health Equity Officer, was honored with the 2024 Clara D. Bloomfield, MD Legacy Award, given by The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James). The award commemorates Bloomfield's enduring legacy and the cancer researchers and clinician scientists she trained throughout her distinguished career.

56 MSK Physicians Selected to Castle Connolly's 2024 Exceptional Women in Medicine List

Castle Connolly recognized 56 MSK physicians on the 2024 list of Expectational Women in Medicine. The list acknowledges female Castle Connolly Top Doctors who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, expertise, and dedication in their respective field. Castle Connolly's Expectational Women in Medicine are nominated by their peers, and Castle Connolly determines the final list based on important criteria, including professional qualifications, education, hospital and faculty appointments, research leadership, professional reputation, disciplinary history, interpersonal skills, and outcomes data.

Vanja Cabric Received the St. Baldrick's Foundation 2024 Fellow Grant

Vanja Cabric, pediatric hematology oncology fellow, was awarded the 2024 St. Baldrick's Foundation fellowship for her research on hepatoblastoma. The St. Baldrick's Foundation Fellowship grants provide support to new pediatric oncology doctors for a duration of two to three years to conduct research while undergoing advanced training under the guidance of a mentor. The $1.1 million grant was distributed to seven researchers making strides in discovering new cures for pediatric cancers.

Rosa Nouvini Honored with 2024 Excellence in Health Care Award by United Hospital Fund

Rosa Nouvini, MD, hematologist-oncologist, received the 2024 Excellence in Health Care Award by United Hospital Fund (UHF). UHF's Excellence in Health Care Award honors extraordinary personal leadership to improve quality of care, patient safety, and patient experience. Honorees are selected for their vision and accomplishments by participating hospital systems, long-term care facilities, home care organizations, independent practice associations, and federally qualified health centers from across the greater New York metropolitan region.

Fresia Pareja Awarded the 2024 Ramzi S. Cotran Young Investigator Award

Fresia Pareja, MD, PhD, pathologist, received the 2024 Ramzi S. Cotran Young Investigator Award. This award recognizes a body of investigate work which has contributed significantly to the diagnosis and understanding of human disease. Dr. Pareja was honored for her research on endocytosis, the molecular basis of special histologic subtypes of breast cancer, and the intersection of germline and somatic genetic alternations in cancer.
