The global health and economic crisis wrought by the COVID-19 pandemic has been compounded by unprecedented weather events. Disasters continue to threaten food security, accelerate biodiversity loss, endanger livelihoods, and increase social inequality. These risks are poised to intensify amid a changing climate. Adaptation and resilience priorities must be embedded into economic recovery packages to help address these impacts.

Join us as we examine the technical adaptation and resilience aspects necessary for a green recovery. We will discuss opportunities for integrating adaptation and resilience into pandemic response and recovery measures that also inform National Adaptation Plans and other climate priorities. We will also highlight the perspectives of national and local governments and the challenges of adopting long-term adaptation interventions that immediately respond to the impacts of COVID-19.

• This event is the first in the Green Recovery Dialogue, a series of high-level events, hosted by the Climate Support Facility and the Green Recovery Initiative, that seek to elevate the discussion around how investing in green recovery efforts can accelerate low-carbon, climate resilient development. These discussions will be held regularly to raise the discourse on the technical considerations of green recovery and elevate the need for countries to align economic stimulus efforts with the climate targets under the Paris Agreement.

• Juergen Voegele, Vice President of Sustainable Development, World Bank

  Dr. Voegele assumed the position of Vice President of Sustainable Development at the World Bank on April 1, 2020. In this role, he oversees the work of Global Practices and thematic groups that bring together the best expertise from across the World Bank Group and from partners, to help countries tackle their most complex challenges in the area of sustainable development. Previously, Dr. Voegele was Global Director of the World Bank's Climate Change Group and Senior Director of the Agriculture and Food Global Practice. He is chair of the CGIAR System Council Board, which oversees agricultural research programs tackling poverty, food and nutrition security, and improved natural resource management. Since 2016, he has served as co-chair of the Global Future Councils of the World Economic Forum. Dr. Voegele holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics and a Master's in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Hohenheim in Germany.

  Anuela Ristani, Deputy Mayor of Tirana for Foreign Relations, City of Tirana

  Ms. Anuela Ristani is the Deputy Mayor of Tirana for Foreign Relations in the capital city of Albania. She joined the public administration in 2014 as General Director of the National Youth Service, where she worked for the establishment of the RYCO (Regional Youth Cooperation Office) and opened the first youth centers in Albania's major cities. She was appointed to the position of Director of the Cabinet of the Mayor of Tirana after the 2015 local elections, a position she held for four years of the first term of Mayor Veliaj. Her professional experience has been primarily related to business development for newly established international companies in Albania and then focused on communication and marketing strategies. Anuela holds a degree in Business Administration and European Studies from American University in Bulgaria and a Master's in Business Administration and Strategic Communication from the University of Missouri in Columbia.

  Jambaltseren Tumur-Uya, State Secretary, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia

  Mr. Jambaltseren is the State Secretary of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry (MoFALI) of Mongolia. He has over a decade of experience in mobilizing financial support and increasing public awareness for agricultural development. Mr. Jambaltseren is also Chair of the Joint Commissions meetings on economic relations and cooperation with foreign Governments, and Chair of the Steering Committees for projects supported and funded by international organizations and partner Governments. Prior to MoFALI, he was the Director of Khalkh Gol, Authority of National Agricultural Development Zone, where he contributed to the development of environmentally friendly, export-oriented livestock and agricultural intensive farms, factories, infrastructure, and tourism development. He holds a Master's in Social Change and Development from the University of Newcastle, Australia, and a Master's in Business Administration and a Bachelor's in Sociology from the National University of Mongolia.

  Janusz Zaleski, Professor of Meteorology and Water Management, Wroclaw University of Science and Technology

  Dr. Janusz Zaleski is a Professor of Meteorology and Water Management at the Warsaw and Wrocław University of Technology. He is an expert in water management and regional policy and has authored more than 150 publications related to water resources, environmental engineering, mathematics, and public finance. In addition to teaching, Dr. Zaleski was an Advisor to the Polish Prime Minister from 1998 to 2001 and the Governor of Wrocław Province from 1992 to 1998. He was also the Chairman of the International Commission of Odra River Protection Against Pollution from 2000 to 2001 and from 2008 to 2010, and served as a Senior Policy Advisor for the Odra-Vistula Flood Management Project Coordination Unit. Dr. Zaleski is a member of the Committee for Spatial Planning and Deputy Chairman of the Water Management Committee for the Polish Academy of Science.

  Anne Hammill, Senior Director for Resilience, International Institute for Sustainable Development

  Ms. Anne Hammill is the Senior Director for Resilience at the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD). Much of Anne's work focuses on understanding how better environmental management can build resilience to climate stress and contribute to peacebuilding. Anne's most recent work has been in developing and applying decision-support tools for climate change adaptation, conducting participatory field research on livelihoods and climate change, and building the capacity of governments and civil society to integrate climate risk into policies and field projects. She has also been working with organizations in Eastern and Central Africa to understand and address the links between conservation activities and conflict.

  Sarah Colenbrander, Director of Programme for Climate and Sustainability, Overseas Development Institute

  Ms. Sarah Colenbrander is the Director of Programme for Climate and Sustainability at the Overseas Development Institute (ODI). Previously, she was Head of Global Programmes for the Coalition for Urban Transitions and the lead author of "Climate Emergency, Urban Opportunity," the report that underpinned the Infrastructure, Cities and Local Action track of the 2019 UN Climate Summit. Sarah has also worked on climate change mitigation in cities, energy and forestry at IIED, the University of Leeds, and Forests Alive. She has co-authored a wide range of academic papers, as well as reports for the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate, IPCC, UN Environment, and the World Bank. Sarah is an associate of the ESRC Centre for Climate Change Economics and Policy and a guest lecturer at the University of Oxford, University College London and the University of Manchester. Sarah holds a Masters in Environment and Development from Trinity College, Dublin.
