Tate & Lyle partners with Future Frontiers for student career coaching programme

Employee volunteers to act as mentors to young people aged 14-16 as part of the 2024 programme.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, 30 April 2024: Tate & Lyle PLC (Tate & Lyle), a world leader in ingredient solutions for healthier food and beverages, is delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with Future Frontiers, an award-winning UK charity, which will give employees the opportunity to act as mentors to students aged 14-16 from disadvantaged backgrounds, and to help them fulfil their potential.

In the UK, family income is the strongest predictor of how well a young person will do at school and the future opportunities they will have. Future Frontiers looks to change this by working with schools and businesses to deliver a programme of coaching, advice and guidance that equips young people to realise their potential at school and take positive steps into education or training at age 16.

15 volunteers from Tate & Lyle's London office will complete training provided by Future Frontiers, and then meet with pupils weekly across June and July. Together, they will work through a series of exercises and activities to support the young people, identify their best skills and what their career might be, and explore the different routes available to achieve that career once leaving school.

Rowan Adams, Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs at Tate & Lyle said: "Tate & Lyle is proud to partner with Future Frontiers and make a positive impact on young people's engagement with learning and to help them discover their career pathways. We believe that all children deserve an equal chance at forming their own future, and we are delighted to add Future Frontiers to the many schools, education foundations and other community partners we work with across the world to help students attain the skills they need for life. Since 2020, Tate & Lyle has supported the education of around 40,000 students through learning and mentoring programmes, bursaries and grants."
