BPD Remembers The Service and Sacrifice of Patrolman John J. Fitzgerald Who Died in the Line of Duty 116 Years Ago

BPD Remembers: On April 6, 1908, Patrolman John Fitzgerald died from complications of a cerebral hemorrhage he suffered three days earlier shortly after assisting another officer in making an arrest of a theft suspect.

Patrolman Fitzgerald served with the Boston Police Department for 27 years and was attached to Division 13, Franklin Park Substation. He was survived by his wife.

His name can also be seen on the BPD's Hero Wall at Boston Police Headquarters and the Massachusetts State Law Enforcement Memorial located on the lawn of the Massachusetts State House in Boston.
