Water is Essential to your Health!

Water is essential to your health and to the health of our environment. Visit Titusville's Water Conservation Program's table at the Y's Healthy Seniors Day to learn about water and ways we can conserve and protect it. Titusville's YMCA will be holding Healthy Seniors Day on November 20 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at its center located at 2400 Harrison Street, Titusville. Drinking Water Helps . . .

  • Maintain Body Fluids. Body fluids are necessary for digestion, absorption, circulation, creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients, and maintenance of body temperature.
  • Control Calories. Substituting water for higher calorie beverages and eating water-rich foods like fruit and vegetables is healthier, more filling, and can help trim calorie intake.
  • Energize Muscles. Cells that don't maintain their balance of fluids and electrolytes shrivel, which can result in muscle fatigue.
  • Freshen Skin. Your skin contains water and acts as a protective barrier to prevent excess fluid loss. Dehydration makes your skin look dry and wrinkled.
  • Support Kidneys. Body fluids transport waste products in and out of cells. Kidneys cleanse and rid your body of toxins. If you chronically drink too little, you may be at a higher risk for kidney stones.
  • Assist Bowels. Adequate hydration keeps things flowing along your gastrointestinal tract and prevents constipation.
