APIC Launches New Infection Prevention Podcast
'AJIC: Science into Practice' highlights significant research from APIC's peer-reviewed journal
Arlington, Va., August 5, 2021-The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) today released the first episode of a new monthly podcast to help infection control and epidemiology professionals stay abreast of scientific literature published in the American Journal of Infection Control (AJIC), APIC's peer review journal. 'AJIC: Science into Practice ' will feature new research and articles significant to the practice of infection prevention and control.
The first episode, titled 'MRSA in Outpatient Settings and Integrating Antibiotic Stewardship and Infection Prevention and Control Programs,' explores recent findings surrounding infectious diseases and antibiotic stewardship in outpatient settings. The podcast's hosts, Nicki Shorr, RN, BSN, CIC, and Jessica Swain, MBA, MLT, CIC, both practicing infection preventionists (IPs), engage the authors in a discussion of how their findings can be applied in clinical settings to improve patient outcomes.
'APIC is excited to launch our newest podcast,' said APIC CEO, Devin Jopp, EdD, MS. 'We believe that it will provide a convenient way for busy IPs to stay informed on research that can benefit their patients and their practice. We also hope it inspires our members to publish their own work and benefit the field of infection prevention and control.'
New episodes of 'AJIC: Science into Practice' will air on the first Thursday of every month starting August 5, 2021. The podcast is available to stream and download on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, and Spotify. APIC also offers the '5 Second Rule' podcast which is produced with the general public in mind.
