Celebrating Earth Month By Giving Back to Mother Nature

In honor of Earth Month, Edison International and Southern California Edison employees spent time reconnecting with nature.

Partnering with the California State Parks Foundation, they ventured into various natural preserves, including: Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook, Chino Hills State Park and Crystal Cove State Park.

There, volunteers engaged in critical environmental work which included habitat restoration, invasive species removal, planting drought-resistant species native to Southern California, creating a butterfly garden, and improving rainwater runoff diversion to prevent erosion.

The goal: eradicating invasive species and rejuvenating native ecosystems.

Native plants play a crucial role in mitigating climate change by conserving water and provide essential resources, including food, shelter and nesting materials for wildlife. Edison volunteers continued their efforts with the Ocean Institute at Dana Point, picking up trash to help protect marine environments.

And in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Greater Los Angeles,volunteers helped construct affordable and clean energy housing solutions. Each home was equipped with solar panels and an all-electric design, representing a step toward sustainable residential construction.
