Senior Trip to Tour Museum of Transportation Feb. 22

The next trip for seniors hosted by the Gene Doty Senior Center will journey through the evolution of transportation through the decades.

The day trip for seniors age 55+ will head to the Forney Museum of Transportation in Denver on Thursday, Feb. 22.

The Forney Museum is a time capsule niche museum displaying more than 800 historical artifacts from the transportation industry. Opened in 1921, the exhibit has grown from showing a few vehicles to expanding into just about every mode of transportation including buggies, motorcycles, steam locomotives, aircraft, carriages, rail equipment, welders, fire apparatus, public transportation, sleighs, bicycles, toys and diecast models and even vintage apparel.

Currently on display is their exhibit "Hurrah for the Red, White, and Buick."

Travelers will depart from the Gene Doty Senior Center at 307 Linda St. at 10:15 a.m. on Feb. 22. The cost to attend is $18 for the museum admission and transportation. The deadline to register will be Feb. 21.

Participants can bring their own sack lunch with them or bring money as we plan to stop and grab lunch prior at the Butcher Block. Seniors who use walkers or wheelchairs are encouraged to join the self-guided tour with accessible transportation provided.
