Sara Hickman at Lewisville Grand Theater

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Sara Hickman leads the 12th annual Lewisville Grand Songwriting Workshop on Saturday, Feb. 17, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street.

Participation in this workshop is limited to 20 people. Tickets are $55 each and include a catered lunch as well as two tickets to Hickman's Black Box Songwriter Series concert on Sunday, Feb. 18. Tickets can be purchased at lewisvillegrand.com/tix. Sales tax and ticket fees are included in the price.

During this intimate, day-long workshop, Hickman will help participants tap into their inner writers' voices and fine-tune their songs. Songwriters of all levels are invited to participate, whether or not they have works in progress to share.

Black Box Songwriter Series Concert

Hickman will perform an intimate Black Box Songwriter Series concert on Sunday, Feb. 18, 8 p.m., at Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street.

The Black Box Songwriter Series is produced by the City of Lewisville and features performing singer/songwriters who give fans a chance to hear incredible songs as well as the stories behind them.

Hickman has been recording, performing, and touring since 1988. Through broad television and radio exposure, massive touring, over 20 albums, a successful career - including hosting VH-1 shows, two appearances on the Tonight Show, Carnegie Hall and multiple awards for her songwriting and philanthropy, Hickman is internationally known for her Grammy-nominated and award-winning pop/folk music. Through her music, she has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for a multitude of non-profits including Habitat for Humanity, SAFE, SPCA, the Uganda Fistula Fund, House the Homeless, Sanford Community Center, Tanner Romanian Mission, Hill Country Youth Ranch. and many others.

The Grand is Lewisville's home for the arts. It presents a variety of regional and national touring performers, art exhibits, and classes, while also giving the many arts groups in the greater Lewisville area a facility to perform and display their works. Its multiple performance spaces play host to a variety of events, including live music, theater, dance performances, comedy shows, and more. The center features the 294-seat Huffines Performance Hall, black box theater, recital hall, art gallery, and courtyard.

To reach The Grand from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. The Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Church streets, or at Lewisville City Hall across Church Street from the center.
