Celebrate Parks & Recreation Month

Whether it's summer camps, classes, sports or senior services, Carlsbad's Parks & Recreation Department offers something to help everyone make the most of their free time.

In July, our programs will be in the spotlight as the city celebrates national Parks and Recreation Month.

To commemorate the month, the California Parks and Recreation Society has adopted the motto: Parks Make Life Better. In Carlsbad, we're taking it closer to home with the hashtag #CarlsbadMakesLifeBetter.

Watch our social media pages throughout July for personal stories about how the parks and recreation programs and services impact our community. You could learn about a program you may be interested in, or something fascinating about someone you already know. We also hope you'll join the conversation by using the hashtag at one of our parks or facilities, or when you participate in one of our programs.

You'll see behind-the-scenes coverage of special events such as the Aloha Plunge on July 23, plus a ribbon cutting event to celebrate the opening of the new Poinsettia Dog Park.

Carlsbad's Parks & Recreation Department operates 41 parks and special-use areas and offers more than 51 miles of open space trails throughout the city. Additional services and programs offered include:
