National Bank of Georgia Releases Vakhtang Gorgasali Collector Coins

National Bank of Georgia Releases Vakhtang Gorgasali Collector Coins

20 December, 2022

The National Bank of Georgia continues to release collector coins within the Kings of Georgia series. The new 5-lari collector coins are dedicated to King Vakhtang Gorgasali. The release of the coins was planned in October-November of this year; however, the production and, therefore, release was somewhat delayed due to objective reasons at the Royal Dutch Mint.

Following from the above, the National Bank of Georgia is pleased to gradually offer 5-lari collector coins dedicated to King Vakhtang Gorgasali starting from December 20 of this year. The price of the gold coin is GEL 1,380, available at the National Bank of Georgia under the following terms:

  • From December 20, 2022, pre-ordered gold coins will be available at the cash center (Kakheti highway 72nd km, Tbilisi; Working hours: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). Clients or their representatives will need to pay the remaining amount, provided that they present an identity document.
  • From January 3, 2023, pre-ordered gold coins will be available at the online store of the National Bank of Georgia. Clients will need to pay the remaining amount (including delivery and insurance charges). Detailed information on the completion of orders and delivery is available here: www.moneymuseum.nbg.gov.ge/.
  • From January 16, 2023, the gold coins will be available for free sale, at the online store of the Money Museum of the National Bank of Georgia, as well as in the Cash Center of the National Bank of Georgia (Kakheti highway 72nd km, Tbilisi.) and the Money Museum of the National Bank of Georgia (10, Shota Rustaveli st, Kvareli). If the demand is high, the National Bank of Georgia reserves the right to limit the number of coins sold per customer for a certain period of time to make sure the coins are available to a wider public.

The exact date of the start of the sale of Vakhtang Gorgasali silver collector coins and other detailed information about it will be published in January 2023.
