World Book Capital City: Look ahead to Strasbourg 2024 as 2026 Call for Applications Launched

Strasbourg, France is preparing to take over from Guadlajara, Mexico as UNESCO World Book Capital City on 23 April 2024.

Under the motto 'Lire Notre Monde' (Reading Our World) the City has programming for the year planned around 5 themes: A city at the crossroads of ideas and debates; A creative and poetic city; A city of empowerment and ecology; A City of Refuge; A Child-Friendly City.

The 2025 Capital City will be Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and the Call for Applications to be the 2026 World Book Capital is now open to all cities of UNESCO Member States. All applications must be submitted through the Online Application Form.
