BonelliErede announces upcoming leadership changes
4 October 2023

At the partners' meeting last week, Massimiliano Danusso was elected as Chairman and Eliana Catalano as Managing Partner. They will take office on 1 January when the current board's mandate ends.

The other members of the new board will be elected at the December partners' meeting.

As announced some time ago, Stefano Simontacchi and Andrea Carta Mantiglia, Chairman and Managing Partner, respectively, will be passing the baton to the new leadership at the end of their term of office, which coincides with the firm starting to put into action its new Multi-Year Strategic Plan.

Massimiliano Danusso is a banking and finance law partner, Managing Partner of BonelliErede's London office, leader of the Debt Capital Markets Focus Team, and a member of the Banks and Insurance Focus Teams. He joined BonelliErede as a partner in 2016 and works between the London and Rome offices, advising mainly on financial and capital markets transactions, complex derivatives and financial litigation.

Eliana Catalano joined BonelliErede's Milan office back in 2001 and made partner in 2009. She is a corporate and M&A partner, with a focus on private equity, leader of the Private Equity Focus Team, a member of the Digital Innovation Focus Team, and a member of the BoD of beLab S.p.A., BonelliErede's alternative legal service provider.

Stefano Simontacchi and Andrea Carta Mantiglia had this to say: "We are delighted that the firm has chosen Massimiliano and Eliana as our successors. Passing the baton on to them will certainly be smooth given that they already sit on the board, which has been working for several months on the new strategic plan, which will see modernisation in all parts of the business. In addition to their extensive legal careers, both have held important roles within the firm - and this wealth of knowledge will add value to the path ahead for BonelliErede. We are confident that they will guide the firm in the best possible way through the many challenges that the ever-evolving legal world will bring, and we and the firm will be by their side to provide all the support and encouragement possible."

Massimiliano Danusso and Eliana Catalano commented: "We are grateful to the partnership for the trust placed in us. We are about to embark on an adventure that will certainly be challenging, but one that we are enthusiastic about. Our ambition is to continue in Andrea and Stefano's footsteps to promote the values that have always distinguished our firm: professional excellence, merit, and the sense of belonging to Italy's largest law firm. We are committed to a path of BonelliErede being viewed as an international, innovative institution, which is the driving force for our growth detailed in the new organisational and structural rules of the strategic plan, which we will be bringing in with the new year."

BonelliErede currently has more than 800 people working in synergy across the firm's eight offices throughout EMEA.
