The High Commissioner of the Republic of Zambia, Patricia Chanda Chisanga Kondolo, presented her Letters of Credence to President George Vella at the Presidential Palace in Valletta.

President Vella welcomed the High Commissioner and observed that bilateral relations between Malta and Zambia can be further enhanced in the trade and commercial fields as well as through multilateral cooperation in the framework of the Commonwealth. More broadly, President Vella added that Malta's foreign policy and economic diplomacy vision for Africa is on building strong foundations for long-term engagement with the whole sub-Saharan African continent. The sectors of sustainability and energy present the two countries with possible avenues of mutually beneficial cooperation.

The High Commissioner expressed her interest in enhancing bilateral relations and identified tourism as an area that Zambia is particularly interested in working on with Malta. Meetings will also be held with the Chamber of Commerce to tap into existing potentials. From a regional perspective, the High Commissioner stated that peace and security are central to Zambia's interest, as the country finds itself surrounded by areas of conflict and regional instability.
