Lake County, FL - Lake County, the City of Tavares, and the Central Florida YMCA are proud to announce the groundbreaking ceremony for the highly anticipated Golden Triangle Regional Park - East Campus. This innovative project represents a collaborative effort to enhance recreational opportunities and community well-being in the Golden Triangle area, encompassing Tavares, Mount Dora, and Eustis.

The groundbreaking ceremony, scheduled on Thursday, April 25, at 10:30 a.m., will mark the beginning of construction on this transformative project. Local officials, community leaders, and stakeholders will gather to celebrate this milestone and reaffirm their dedication to enhancing the quality of life for residents throughout the Golden Triangle area.

"Lake County is thrilled to embark on this collaborative journey with the City of Tavares and the Central Florida YMCA," said Commissioner Kirby Smith, Chairman of the Lake County Board of County Commissioners. "The Golden Triangle Regional Park represents a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to create vibrant, inclusive spaces where residents can thrive and connect with nature."

The vision for the Golden Triangle Regional Park - East Campus emerged from a shared commitment to provide comprehensive recreational facilities for residents across Lake County and the City of Tavares. Through extensive discussions and planning sessions starting in 2021, the Tavares City Council, Lake County Board of County Commissioners, and Central Florida YMCA Board of Directors laid the groundwork for this transformative endeavor.

"The City of Tavares is proud to partner with Lake County and the Central Florida YMCA to bring the vision of the Golden Triangle Regional Park to life," remarked Bobby Grenier, Mayor of Tavares. "This project exemplifies our commitment to fostering a sense of community and belonging while promoting active, healthy lifestyles for all residents."

The Golden Triangle Regional Park, situated at the YMCA property, will serve as a hub for diverse recreational activities, including expanded offerings for seniors and youth programs. This initiative aligns with Lake County's Parks and Trails Master Plan, reflecting a strategic investment in the community's health and well-being.

"We are grateful to Lake County, the City of Tavares, and our Golden Triangle Y Board for their bold vision and exemplary partnership to transform this special waterfront property into a health and wellness destination that will benefit generations of neighbors." said Kevin Bolding, President & CEO of the YMCA of Central Florida.
