Hershey Medical Center celebrates patience experience award winners
Penn State Health employees go above and beyond every day to deliver the highest-quality patient experience. They include the physician who coached and encouraged an unresponsive patient to rehabilitation, the shuttle driver who helped a disoriented patient get to an appointment, cafeteria employees and patient transport staff who take service to the next level and the nurse who FaceTimed an elderly couple after the wife's difficult illness.

During Patient Experience Week, we are celebrating the recipients of Hershey Medical Center's Lion Care and Cubby Care Awards--130 staff members and teams who were nominated by appreciative patients.
Nominees demonstrate, provide and support patient- and family-centered care for pediatric and adult patients and embody the core concepts of that care:
- Dignity and Respect
- Information Sharing
- Participation
- Collaboration
The Patient- and Family-Centered Care Advisory Councils created the awards to celebrate staff and faculty who embody the caring spirit of the Hershey Medical Center team. Nominees may include anyone who had a direct or indirect impact on patients and families.
'Each year, it is an honor to be a part of the award recognition sponsored by our Hershey Medical Center advisory councils,' said Misty Bowman, manager, patient- and family-centered care. 'I have watched the number of nominees grow every year. I do read each and every nomination that we receive throughout the year, and I am continually awed by the wonderful and inspiring notes that patients and families write about our employees.'
