Christian County Ag Fair Celebrates Centennial Anniversary with Visit to the Capitol, Congratulatory Resolution

State Representative Brad Halbrook and his House colleagues today welcomed Representatives from the Christian County Agricultural Fair to celebrate the fair's landmark 100^th Anniversary.

"A centennial anniversary is an amazing milestone for the fair, its staff, volunteers, and area families who make it a must-attend event every year," Rep. Halbrook said. "I am proud to welcome fair officials to the House today so we can help celebrate a century of showcasing and supporting central Illinois agriculture!"

The Christian County Ag Fair was founded on April 29, 1924 by Phil S. Haner, Robert Carlin, Louis Tolliver, and Edward Alton who held the first fairs on 40 acres of rented land on the west edge of Taylorville. Land for formal fairgrounds was purchased in 1935.

From its inception, the fair was home to the most outstanding society horse shows in the Midwest. The fair also sponsored horse and harness races, and cattle, hog, and sheep shows.

Rep. Halbrook this spring passed House Resolution 724, honoring the Christian County Fair on their anniversary, and 100 years of excellence, and today recognized Fair Board President Craig Paulek, 2^nd Vice President Jim Oliver, and Treasurer Larry Budd who were present in the House gallery.
