On December 3-4, 2024, the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk hosted inter-MFA consultations on the topic "On the interaction of the CIS member states in the information sphere."
Representatives from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the CIS Executive Committee took part in the consultations.
Participants of the consultations discussed the issues of increasing the effectiveness of information support the CIS activities, memorable dates and significant events in the Commonwealth.
An exchange of views also took place on possible information events within the framework of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, declared the Year of Peace in the CIS, and on forms of inter-MFA coordination in this area.
The meeting participants also noted the importance of coordinating efforts to counter common information threats, including disinformation and fakes. It was recognized that it was necessary to establish cooperation between countries in order to create a joint monitoring and denial mechanism.
