Join Udo Lindenberg and Katharina Bauer at heart rhythm awareness event in Berlin

Saturday, 6 April 2024, 19:30 CEST at Charité, Hörsaalruine, Berlin

Join iconic singer and artist Udo Lindenberg and superstar pole vault athlete Katharina Bauer at Charité, Hörsaalruine, Berlin to hear their personal stories of living with a heart rhythm disorder.

The event is hosted by the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) on the eve of EHRA 2024 - the leading international congress for heart rhythm specialists.

Know your pulse

"One in three people in Europe will develop a serious heart rhythm problem in their lifetime, putting them at increased risk of stroke and premature death," said Professor Julian Chun, chair of the EHRA Scientific Initiatives Committee. "Often there are no symptoms. That's why it's important to measure your pulse at least once a year."

"Checking your pulse is simple - put two fingers on the side of your wrist and count the number of beats in a minute. A healthy number is 60 to 80 beats per minute. If your number is outside this, or the beats are irregular, don't worry - there is unlikely to be a problem - but see your physician just to be sure. Also visit your physician if you are in pain, dizzy, or have fainting spells."

"We should all know our pulse. And we can help each other - grandchildren can check their grandparents' pulse, for example. Knowing our bodies helps us to stay healthy."
