Patrick Brennan Selected as New Village Manager

After a nationwide search that generated more than 30 impressive candidates, the Northfield Village Board has hired Patrick M. Brennan as its new Village Manager.

Mr. Brennan is the long-time manager of the Village of nearby Kenilworth and brings more than 25 years of local government experience to Northfield. The Village Board approved an employment agreement with Mr. Brennan at its March 19, 2024 meeting, and Mr. Brennan is expected to begin as Village Manager on April 29, 2024.

"Patrick Brennan is a proven leader with a strong record as a visionary Village Manager," the Northfield Village Board said in a joint statement. "He has outstanding communications skills and a reputation for excellence in managing people, projects and progress. We are excited to introduce Patrick to the Northfield community and village staff and businesses. Sometimes you find the ideal person right next door."

Brennan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology and a Master of Public Administration degree, both from the University of Dayton. Brennan began his career in public service in 1998 as a police officer in the City of Middletown, Ohio, where he served for nearly 14 years. After obtaining his Master of Public Administration degree, Brennan worked for the City of Highland Park, Illinois from 2001 to 2012, first as an Assistant to the City Manager and, eventually, Deputy City Manager. In 2012, the Village of Kenilworth selected Mr. Brennan as their Village Manager.

Brennan has led Kenilworth through major, multimillion-dollar infrastructure improvements, including deployment of innovative green-infrastructure technologies and permeable street design to improve water quality, relieve flooding and reduce sanitary sewer. Brennan has also been instrumental in developing and implementing a long-term plan for the revitalization of Kenilworth's central business district.

Village residents and the business community are invited to attend an informal welcome reception for Patrick on Tuesday, April 16th at 4:30 pm at Village Hall.
