Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism through Education

On 25 April, the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) held a Thematic Expert Workshop on Education for the Prevention and Countering of Violent Extremism Conducive to Terrorism (P/CVE). This initiative is a joint venture of the European Union and Morocco, in collaboration with Hedayah. The focus is on Africa, more specifically the Sahel, where the terrorism threat has been increasing systemically.

The interactive workshop was held in Brussels, Belgium and brought together senior officials from the members of the GCTF to exchange insights and shared best practices with experts in the domain, whilst also exploring innovative approaches to education as a tool for P/CVE.

Hedaya will consolidate the input of the workshop, alongside additional research, in a research brief, and will develop a Toolkit and a Training-of-Trainers curriculum to support the practical application of the Abu Dhabi Memorandum for Good Practices on Education and Countering Violent Extremism and its Action Plan.
