Pinning ceremony with College President, Dr. Donald Guy Generals, and Mayor Kenney to mark students' accomplishments

PHILADELPHIA - Community College of Philadelphia and the City of Philadelphia will celebrate the largest cohort of Octavius Catto Scholars to graduate with a pinning ceremony tomorrow, Tuesday, April 25, at 11 a.m. in the College's Klein Cube, Pavilion Building, at 1700 Spring Garden St., Philadelphia, 19130.

The Octavius Catto Scholarship helps make community college more accessible to Philadelphians by providing last-dollar funding to cover the cost of tuition, as well as support to cover the cost of books, enhanced academic success and career coaching, academic advising, and connections to resources like housing assistance and child care.

Catto Scholars will receive special pins to commemorate their upcoming graduation. Speakers at the ceremony include Dr. Donald Guy Generals, College president; Mayor Jim Kenney; Dr. Seth Jacobson, executive director of the Octavius Catto Scholarship; and several Catto Scholars.

The College welcomed the first cohort of Catto Scholars in the spring 2021 semester. Since that time, more than 1,100 students have enrolled as Catto Scholars at the College.
