Díaz-Balart's Statement of the End the Border Catastrophe Act

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26) released the following statement in support of the "End the Border Catastrophe Act," which includes core components of H.R. 2, the "Secure the Border Act of 2023," which he proudly authored and sponsored.
"For more than three years, President Biden and his Administration have sat on their hands and just watched the ongoing crisis at our southern border get worse; ignoring the dangerous implications on the safety and security of the American people and our national security. The Administration has abdicated their responsibility and stopped enforcing the rule of law and has ceded all control of the southern border to the narco-terrorist cartels to decide who enters. I am glad that H.R. 2, which I authored, provides the basis for "End the Border Catastrophe Act," to address the border crisis and fentanyl epidemic, which now kills approximately 150 Americans daily.
Since President Biden took office, there have been over 340 individuals on the terrorist watchlist caught trying to cross our southern border, as well as gang members from notorious gangs such as 'Tren de Aragua'who are endangering Americans, including in the district that I represent. President Biden and Democrats cannot continue to ignore the surge of deadly drugs, criminal gangs, and dangerous individuals entering our country and the damage caused by the mass trafficking of unaccompanied children.
Passage of "End the Border Catastrophe Act," is crucial to providing real solutions to restore order at the southern border, defend our national security, and protect minors - all while upholding the rule of law."
