Celebrate Fix-A-Leak Week

Today marks the start of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Fix-A-Leak Week! Celebrate by taking the 10-minute WaterSense Challenge to detect and chase down leaks at the Fix-A-Leak Challenge webpage, or by purchasing a water conservation tool such as an aerator or showerhead at Efficiency Works. Special presentation: Empowering Women in Mali and West Africa

Fatou Doumbia of AGILE International will present stories of hope from 6-7:30 pm on Thursday, March 23 in the City Council Chambers, Civic Center, 350 Kimbark St. These stories will highlight the progress happening in Mali and West Africa for women and their communities. AGILE International offers programs to women for business microloans, food sustainability and security, land ownership, and many other opportunities. This program is presented by the Longmont Public Library and is free to attend. Registration is required on the Library Programs webpage.

Guided History Tour & Volunteer Social

Enjoy a guided tour of the historic Morse Coffin Family Home at 10:30 am or 12:30 pm on Saturday, March 25 at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive. Learn about the Coffin family, and what life was like in the 1800s for homesteaders in the area. All ages welcome! $2/child, $4/adult suggested donation collected at the event. If you are interested in volunteering at the Visitors Center, meet at the house between 8:30 am and 10 am for refreshments and information. Serve on City Advisory Board/Commission

The City Council has opened their bi-annual recruitment to fill vacancies on City advisory boards and commissions. Residents are invited to share their voice, expertise, and vision with City Council by applying to serve. This is a great way to participate and help Council make decisions on issues that affect the safety, economy and quality of life of Longmont's residents and businesses. The Sacred Art of the Powwow

Head to the Longmont Museum starting at 7 pm on Thursday, March 30 for a breathtaking showcase of Native American dance accompanied by local Powwow drum groups, traditional Native American flute, and storytelling featuring Red Feather Woman and members of our local Native artist community. This program is offered in complement to the Museum's current special exhibition, "Duality: Contemporary Works by Indigenous Artists." Student Intern Police Officer program

Do you know a college student interested in becoming a police officer? The Student Intern Officer (SIO) program allows college students who are interested in criminal justice careers to experience a practical work environment. SIOs are primarily assigned to the patrol division, but can also be given opportunities to serve in other divisions. The application deadline is April 1 for summer and fall semesters. Craft Club: Tissue Paper Lanterns

Join the Children and Teens Librarians from 2-3:30 pm on Sunday, March 26, for a drop-in craft club to build your own lantern out of glass jars and tissue paper! Button Rock Preserve Management Plan

Longmont's Water and Natural Resources teams invite you to review the final draft of the Button Rock Preserve Management Plan. Button Rock Preserve is the only protected preserve in Longmont's system of open spaces, natural areas and parks. The purpose of Button Rock Preserve is to protect Longmont's primary municipal drinking water supply, which also means protecting the biodiversity found throughout the Preserve's 2,671 acres. Today, visitor use is much higher than it was when the Preserve was opened in the 1960s and when the rules were last updated in the 1990s.
