Gainesville officials to present Key to the City to Laura Jane Grace

Laura Jane Grace, singer/songwriter and founder of the punk rock band Against Me! will receive a Key to the City for her many contributions to the punk scene and for helping raise Gainesville's profile internationally as a music destination.

When: Friday, Oct. 27 at 5 p.m.

Where: City Hall Plaza, 200 E. University Ave.

Gainesville Mayor Harvey Ward will also proclaim Oct. 27 as Laura Jane Grace Day. Friday is the first day of FEST, Gainesville's independent multiday, multi-venue music festival known to attract fans from all over the world. Grace, a high-profile transgender activist and former Gainesville resident, is scheduled to perform at FEST this Sunday.
