Article 25 Tidal Wetlands | Article 34 Coastal Erosion Management
Project is Located:
SMITHTOWN, SUFFOLK COUNTY
Project Description:
Applicant proposes to stabilize 275 linear feet of shoreline by installing approximately 512 tons of armor stone at the toe of the bluff. An additional 160 cubic yards of gravel will be used as core stone. The bluff face will be cut and regraded to create a more gradual slope, which will then be stabilized with matting and native, salt-tolerant vegetation. The material cut from the bluff will be used landward of the stone as backfill, with an additional 300 cubic yards of sand from an upland source used to supplement the backfill. A berm is proposed landward of the top of bluff to minimize erosion from upland runoff. The stone revetment is proposed seaward of the Coastal Erosion Hazard Area (CEHA) line and landward of mean high water in the regulated tidal wetlands adjacent area. The project is located at 2 Hunter's Way, Village of Nissequogue, Town of Smithtown, Suffolk County, SCTM# 802-4-2-1.5
