NOPD Investigating Homicide in Seventh District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (February 8, 2023) in the 11700 block of Chef Menteur Highway that left two people dead and three injured.

At about 6:01 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a reported shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered three adult gunshot wound victims - two females and one male - inside of a vehicle at the scene. One of the female victims was declared deceased on scene. The second female victim and the male victim were both transported via EMS to a local hospital, where the male victim was later declared deceased. The second female victim was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

A short time later, officers received a report of two children in the 8000 block of Arcadia Lane who had sustained gunshot wounds. Through investigation, the victims were found to have sustained the injuries in the incident on Chef Menteur Highway and had been relocated. A 3-year-old child was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to the buttocks, while an 8-year-old child was found to have sustained graze wounds to the neck and face. Both victims were transported via EMS to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will identify the deceased victims and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
