DEWA takes part in Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament 2023

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is participating in the 11th Sheikha Hind Women's Sports Tournament. The tournament is organised by the Dubai Sports Council under the patronage of HH Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai. 44 talented and highly-trained female employees from DEWA are taking part in all games of the tournament.

"The Sheikha Hind Women's Sports Tournament is particularly important to DEWA as it bears the name of Her Highness Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Her Highness is especially known for her role to encourage women to adopt a healthy lifestyle. We support the the National Sports Strategy 2031, which aims to increase the proportion of people practising diverse sports to 71 per cent of the population. As part of our social responsibility and commitment to achieve the wise leadership's vision to make sports part of our society, we provide a positive and healthy work environment. We are keen to develop the physical and mental capabilities of male and female employees and encourage them," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

The Sheikha Hind Women's Sports Tournament is held from 9 to 20 November 2023, and has seven sports disciplines, including bowling, running, cycling, padel, badminton, shooting and obstacles challenge.
