Korea and Canada hold high-level economic security dialogue

Minister for Trade Dukgeun Ahn and Foreign Minister Park Jin met with Melanie Joly, Canada's Foreign Minister, and François-Philippe Champagne, Canada's Innovation, Science and Industry Minister, on May 16 in Seoul to hold a high-level economic security dialogue.

The dialogue was officially launched last September on the occasion of the Korea-Canada summit meeting, and this type of "2+2" economic security consultative system is a significant first for both sides.

The four ministers shared their assessment on the global strategic environment and their economic security policies, and exchanged views on measures to strengthen cooperation in the supply chain for critical minerals and semiconductors, and in clean energy like natural gas, hydrogen, nuclear energy.

Korea and Canada will continue to make efforts to deepen the economic security cooperation based on this dialogue and produce tangible economic outcomes.
