Canton Township To Host 2nd Annual Festival of Lights Community Celebration

Area residents are invited to experience Canton's 2nd Annual Festival of Lights Community Celebration, which is a special event that celebrates the triumph of good over evil on Friday, October 14, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Heritage Park Amphitheater, located behind the Canton Administration Building at 1150 S. Canton Center Road in Canton, MI.

Canton Leisure Services is partnering with several community groups to host this special celebration of lights that symbolizes the "victory of light over darkness." This year's event, which is free and open to all community members, will culminate with a smaller-scale firework display in Heritage Park.

Program activities will include: Indian cultural performances, music, dancing, and free henna designs. Indian snacks will also be available on-site for an additional fee.

"Canton is excited to host our 2nd annual Festival of Lights Community Celebration as a tribute to the diversity and multicultural fabric of the Canton community," said Laura Mortier, Recreation Supervisor. "By presenting this type of event, we hope to foster a deeper understanding and awareness of this 10,000-year-old tradition."

There is no admission fee to attend this outdoor event and parking is also free. Canton's Festival of Lights Community Celebration is a weather-dependent event and will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, in the event of rain or inclement weather.
