City of Beavercreek Pays Tribute During National Police Week

This week, the City of Beavercreek and the Beavercreek Police Department are observing National Police Week, which runs from May 12 through 18. The occasion was highlighted by a proclamation that Beavercreek Mayor Don Adams presented to Beavercreek Police Chief Jeff Fiorita and fellow officers of the department during the city council meeting on Monday, April 22, 2024.

National Police Week holds deep significance, tracing its origins back to 1962 when President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation establishing this annual commemoration. It serves as a time to honor the brave men and women who have fallen in the line of duty, as well as to recognize the dedication of those currently serving in communities across the nation.

In addition to National Police Week, the City of Beavercreek and the Beavercreek Police Department will also observe Peace Officers' Memorial Day on Wednesday, May 15. This day is dedicated to honoring the courage and sacrifice of law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice or have become disabled in the line of duty.

"National Police Week and Peace Officers' Memorial Day provide us with an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers and their families," said Chief Jeff Fiorita. "It's a time to honor the legacy of those who have given their lives in service to their communities and to show our support for those who continue to serve."
