Minister Nishimura Holds the Second Japan-U.S. Commercial and Industrial Partnership (JUCIP) Ministerial Meeting with H.E. Ms. Gina M, Raimondo, United States Secretary of Commerce

On May 26, 2023, Mr. Nishimura Yasutoshi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry held the second Japan-U.S. Commercial and Industrial Partnership (JUCIP) Ministerial Meeting with H.E. Ms. Gina M, Raimondo, United States Secretary of Commerce in Detroit, the United States.
In addition to the existing areas of cooperation such as semiconductors, export control, and digital, during the meeting. The two principals welcomed the expansion of cooperation between the two organizations into biotechnology, quantum technology and cooperation with Pacific Island Countries. They issued the joint statement outlining the achievements and future directions of cooperation in these broad areas.
The two principals also shared their intention to use this joint statement as momentum to hold the second Japan-US Economic Policy Consultative Committee (Economic 2+2) Ministerial Meeting at the earliest appropriate time to expand and deepen cooperation for further strengthening the economic security of the two counties.
