Hydrant Flushing Begins This Week

Public Works crews will begin flushing fire hydrants beginning April 22. Opening fire hydrants flushes water through the City's water mains and helps to remove built-up mineral deposits. When crews are flushing hydrants in your neighborhood, you may notice a discoloration of your tap water. The discoloration is due to excess minerals, and your water is still safe to use. To remove the discolored water, run the COLD water tap which is nearest to your water meter until the water runs clear. It will take several weeks for crews to flush all hydrants citywide.
