The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia, accompanied by the Kakheti State Representative, Mr. Giorgi Aladashvili, and Dedoplistskaro Municipality Mayor, Mr. Nikoloz Janiashvili inspected the grain drying plant of farmer Nugzar Alughishvili.
The farmer received preferential agro-credit for creating infrastructure, with a capacity of 3,300-tonne output and a loan exceeding GEL 900,000.
"Maximizing state support is essential for our farmers. We financed more than 300 storage facilities - including renovating and constructing new farms. We also help farmers in growing primary products. Under the preferential agro-credit project, we finance the interest rate of 9% on a working capital loan. This is unquestionably a vital assistance. In addition, we have expanded the insurance coverage area thus, grain producers can insure up to 100 hectares. The mentioned initiatives aim to assist wheat growers in increasing their production per hectare, which has a direct impact on prices. I would emphasize the importance of improving quality. This year, we have a better indicator for yield and quality", said Mr. Otar Shamugia.
It is worth mentioning that during the harvesting process, the state and the private sector mobilized harvesting equipment, including 30 units of combine harvesters from "Agricultural Logistics and Services Company" LLC.
As of July 12, 2024, 419 preferential loans worth more than 16 million GEL have been issued within the preferential agro credit project to promote the cultivation of annual crops.
The program of co-financing harvesting agricultural machinery supported beneficiaries in purchasing 53 harvesters with the state co-financing of GEL 7.4 million.
353 loans totalling GEL 29.2 million have been issued to create and develop grain storage infrastructure, including 313 loans worth GEL 19 million in the Kakheti region.
