Securityplus FCU to Participate in AFRO News Annual Black Business Expo

Securityplus FCU recently announced its participation in the upcoming Black Business Expo. This premier event, themed "Celebrating Black-Owned Small Businesses", aligns with the credit union's commitment to fostering community growth, economic development, and financial empowerment.

Hosted by AFRO News, the oldest black-owned business in Maryland, the Black Business Expo is designed to empower the Black entrepreneurial community by providing a unique opportunity for learning, networking, and growth within the Black business ecosystem.

"We are excited to be a part of this incredible event," said Anthony Carpenter, Vice President of Business Services at Securityplus Federal Credit Union. "Events like the Black Business Expo are vital in creating equal opportunities for growth and empowerment and allow us to make a meaningful difference in the communities we serve," added Carpenter.

At the Expo, Carpenter will present an engaging seminar aimed at "Unlocking Your Business Potential" in which attendees will learn about business financing options that Securityplus offers; including access to capital through its designation as an SBA (Small Business Administration) approved lender, financial literacy programs, and other services tailored specifically to meet the needs of small businesses. Additionally, Securityplus representatives will be available to discuss membership benefits and how the credit union can assist both individuals and businesses in achieving financial goals.

"Our involvement in the Black Business Expo is part of our broader commitment to community engagement and economic empowerment. Providing access to inclusive and caring financial services is at the core of our mission, and we are committed to ensuring that all members of our community have the resources and support they need to achieve financial stability and success", said Ray Ragan, Interim Chief Executive Officer at Securityplus.

The AFRO's 4th annual Expo will be held on May 30th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum, and will feature a full slate of speakers, including Mayor Brandon Scott, Comptroller Brooke Lierman, Ron Busby from US Black Chambers Inc., and several prominent Black businesses leaders, that will share valuable insights and strategies that aim to empower Black-owned small business owners.
