As part of their partnership to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in the fashion world, Harlem's Fashion Row and LVMH North America celebrated HFR's 16th annual Fashion Show & Style Awards (FFSA) on September 5 in New York, honoring BIPOC talents who are shaping today's fashion industry.
Held at Harlem's famed Apollo Theater to kick off New York Fashion Week, the event featured a sensational tribute to hip-hop under the theme The Remix. The show commenced with the Dream in Black Rising Future Makers Showcase, a program that provides access for young BIPOC talent to mentoring via a network and resources to help them realize greater possibilities. Five students - Jaivien Kendrick of Bowie University, Jakarie Whitaker of Clark Atlanta University, Jewel Moser, U'lia Hargrove of North Carolina A&T State University, and Tukii Tucker of North Carolina Central University saw their work featured.
Six Style Awards were also presented during the evening, including the new Hip Hop Trailblazer Award, recognizing a special contribution to hip hop and fashion.
Initiated in 2021, LVMH's partnership with Harlem's Fashion Row opens doors for talent of color through events and collaborations. The initiative aligns with LVMH's ongoing mission to support diversity and inclusion and to foster creativity and savoir-faire, pillars of the Group's excellence and sustained success.
