Abu Dhabi celebrates sport and Made in Italy

The Italian Embassy in Abu Dhabi celebrated the first National Made in Italy Day in the United Arab Emirates with an event dedicated to "Sport and Made in Italy: Technology, Well-being, Excellence". The event was attended by over 100 guests including athletes, representatives from the business world and institutions, as well as Italy's and Emirates' sports enthusiasts. Among the audience there were also Italian football champions Edgar Davids and Luca Antonini and leaders from Emirates' institutions, including the sovereign fund Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Abu Dhabi and Dubai police forces.

The event was opened by the Italian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Lorenzo Fanara, and continued with a talk - moderated by TV journalist Chiara Giuffrida - with the Emirates'motorsport prodigy, Rashid Al Dhaeri, who races in Italy for Scuderia Prema, and the Major League legend, Nicola Ventola.

The event continued with a round table discussion with representatives from Italian sports companies operating in the United Arab Emirates: Serie A, Technogym, RCS Sport, Colnago, Vivaticket, Deloitte Italia. For the occasion, the Italian Residence also hosted Giro d'Italia and Serie A trophies, Colnago's high-tech racing bikes, Technogym's wellness equipment and Errea's sports jerseys.

Ambassador Fanara stated: "We wanted to dedicate the first National Made in Italy Day to the Italian sports excellences that promote the best image and highest values of our country. People in Italy and the Emirates share a strong passion for sport and its values of healthy and friendly competition, determination and drive for excellence. These are also the factors behind the success of Made in Italy in the world. The common passion for sport is therefore a glue that strengthens the friendship between Italy and the Emirates and promotes the knowledge and export of quality Italian products to the Emirates' market."
