Firearm Recovered After Person with a Gun Call in Downtown

At about 1:31 PM, on Saturday, April 20, 2024, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) arrested Gerald Sibley, 43, of Dorchester, on firearm charges.

Officers responded to the area of 128 Tremont Street for a report of a person with a gun. Officers were advised by Boston Police Operations that a male displayed a firearm to the cashier inside the store. Officers were provided a description of the suspect, and observed him standing in front of the counter.

Officers were able to place the suspect into handcuffs, and recovered a firearm from his waistband. The firearm was later determined to be a Taurus G2 with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in a large capacity magazine.

Sibley was placed under arrest and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, armed robbery and resisting arrest. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
