Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 2323 Brookmere Drive

July 6, 2023- Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 2323 Brookmere Drive about 12:20 a.m. today (July 6).

The suspect, Cristina Carol Bernich, 52, is charged with aggravated assault - family member in the 182nd State District Court. A booking photo of Bernich is attached to this news release.

The victim, 72, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective L. Garcia reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a residence at the above address and learned Bernich got into an argument with her father and then shot him in the ankle. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital.

After further investigation and consultation with the Harris County District Attorney's Office, Bernich was subsequently charged for her role in the shooting.
