National Small Business Week in Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX -The City of Corpus Christi and the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce announced the kickoff for National Small Business Week yesterday.

Several events are planned from now to Friday, May 3, to highlight the importance of small businesses in our community.

The events are as follows:

  • Tuesday, April 30 - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center will present "Lunch and Learn Securing the Future: Cybersecurity for Businesses" from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Innovation Center at 10201 S. Padre Island Drive. This workshop will focus on the fundamental concepts of cybersecurity and understanding its crucial role in safeguarding sensitive data and operations. Unique cybersecurity risks facing small and medium-sized businesses will be explored.
  • Wednesday, May 1 - The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the City's Office of Economic Development will present "Lunch and Learn: Doing Business with the City" from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at City Hall, 6th-floor conference room, 1201 Leopard Street. Join us for this informational session covering the steps you need to follow to start a small business in Corpus Christi. Speakers include Monica Stuber, Corpus Christi Branch Manager for the U.S. SBA, and Heather Hurlbert, Assistant City Manager with the City of Corpus Christi.
  • Thursday, May 2 - The Del Mar College (DMC) Small Business Development Center will present "Entrepreneur Night" from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the DMC Oso Creek Campus, 7002 Yorktown Boulevard, Culinary Arts Building, room 209. Join us for dinner and networking opportunities during this evening of recognition and inspiration as we honor local entrepreneurs from the Coastal Bend area. The program begins at 6:00 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Alyssa Mason Barrera, Executive Director for the Corpus Christi Downtown Management District.
  • Friday, May 3 - SCORE Corpus Christi will present a "Small Business Marketing Using AI-Generated Content" virtual webinar from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Rebecca Esparza, Director of Business Development for SCORE Corpus Christi, will share tips for incorporating AI into your marketing and recommendations to ensure your messages are compelling to your audience.
